Romantic Escape & Family Retreat Hemlock Haven offers for the young-at-heart and the hardy a cabin built in 1923, located nine miles from Abingdon on the North Fork of the Holston River. The cabin has a large central room with kitchen and a stone fireplace for great socializing, cooking, and dining. Upstairs are two bedrooms, one with a king-sized bed, and the other with two double beds, plus a sleeping porch with twin beds. Hemlock Haven has an unusual hot water shower and "rustic" bathroom, and an uphill outhouse (for the hardy!). The porch affords views of the river while eating outdoors. A wonderful location for those who like to fish, hike, tube down the river, picnic, cuddle up with a good book in front of the fire, relax and meditate, or do nothing at all except enjoy the scenic beauty of Southwest Virginia. | |
